Here you find details of how we will continue to provide an education for your child during absence due to Covid-19. This is also where you will find useful guidance documents related to the pandemic..
Home Learning Policy 2021 – 2022
If your child is isolating because it is suspected or confirmed that they have Covid, we will then provide work to be completed at home (providing that they are well enough to complete this).
For the isolation period please go to your child’s ‘Home Learning Class Page’ on the top right side of this page where you will find a pack of materials linked to the topics your child would be learning about in class. There is a pack for each half term.
The sheets can be printed at home or a printed set can be provided by school on request.
It is assumed that your child will freely access the full range of online learning sites listed below. Links for these can be found on the Kids Zone page.
It is important that you support your child to complete the work set to ensure that they keep up with their classmates. Finished work should be uploaded daily to your child’s portfolio on Class Dojo so that Teachers can see how the children are doing and offer feedback.
If due to local or national restrictions our school is closed, we will continue to deliver education remotely.
The class teacher will:
- Upload daily teaching videos on Class Dojo for English and Maths with activities to complete
- Our younger children will also get a daily phonics video
- Be available through Class Dojo for messaging to provide support where needed
- Arrange a daily Zoom session to answer queries and to support your child with their learning, motivation and engagement
- For subjects like Science, Geography and Art they will either upload a teaching video or set a task by:
Setting online work on the websites / apps listed below
Providing links to websites, online videos or programmes
We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils in Key Stage 1 (years 1 & 2) approximately 3 hours per day to complete and 4 hours a day for those in Key Stage 2 (years 3, 4, 5 & 6).
In these circumstances, it is important that you support your child to complete the work set to ensure that they keep up with their classmates and do not miss learning. Finished work should be uploaded daily to your child’s portfolio so that Teachers can see how the children are doing and offer feedback. Class Teachers will continue with the curriculum (just as they would if the children were in school) and will move onto new learning when they return.
School have a small number of tablets which may be loaned to pupils who do not have adequate technology at home. All technology is on a loan basis and a commitment document must be signed by the parent / carer of the pupil to whom it is loaned.
School may also be able to support families to increase their mobile data allowance.
Please contact school if you require any support with technology, internet access or accessing the sites we have identified for you to use.
We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils by providing differentiated activities and, where appropriate, tailored resources and contact to meet their individual needs.
Throughout any period of remote learning Class Teachers will:
- be available through Class Dojo for messaging to provide feedback for uploaded work and support where needed
- keep a daily record of tasks completed and online activities accessed
A member of staff will contact families to provide support should we become concerned about lack of engagement. If we are unable to contact you through Dojo or on the phone, we may visit your home (socially distanced) and / or phone other contacts you have provided.
